CHRIS McLENNAN PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPEDITION
“Predators, Prey, Survivors” - 18th/27th September 2013
6 participants
Join International travel and wild life photographer Chris McLennan for 10 days of action packed wildlife photography. Photograph side by side Chris as he shares all his very best photography secrets.
Botswana is Southern Africa’s most prestigious safari destination: an Eden of wild and pristine landscapes that overflows with life. From the labyrinth of channels and islands of the Okavango Delta to the open savannahs and woodlands of the Chobe National Park: there is unrivalled beauty and sensational game viewing.
It is September and in a few short weeks the first rains will arrive, the wild grasses of northern Botswana will burst into life, and the great herds of animals will disperse. For now though the skies are vast and open, the earth raw, grazing is scarce and water more precious than anything else. As wildlife is forced towards the rivers and water holes, both predator and prey are forced closer and closer together. This is the setting for the most dramatic theatre on the African continent: the battle for survival, the perfect place for a wildlife photographer to be!
September is the ideal month to witness this drama unfold. The concentration of wildlife is at its peak and at its most precarious. The days are long and the light is good. There is dust, water, beautiful sunsets and action, lots of action!
Wildlight Safaris will be there and we invite you to join Chris McLennan on this incredible journey of discovery...
TUITION
The best place to learn about wildlife photography is in the field, with your camera in hand focused on the subject material. So our classrooms are huge and our lessons last all day, but our tuition style is relaxed, fun and personalized. Chris will offer technical and creative advice specific to each wildlife encounter and to further develop the creativity of your wildlife photography, Chris will review your work while in camp and look at a range of post-production ideas and techniques. He will challenge you to move out of your comfort zone, He will encourage you to try new ideas and experiment, and he will give you the tools to view wildlife photography from a new perspective.
WHAT IS A MOBILE SAFARI?
A mobile safari involves camping ‘wild’ and remote within the beautiful game reserves and national parks of Botswana. But ‘wild’ in no way implicates you will be roughing it. Your tented accommodation will have raised beds, snug duvets & en-suite facilities and upon return from a long day in the field there will be hot showers and cold beverages available. Delicious meals freshly prepared by our skilled camp chef will be served 3x daily as well as snacks during your time out in the bush. Being mobile simply means the safari camp is able to relocate from one exclusive wilderness site to another, allowing the safari to move through a variety of habitat and between the different national parks and game reserves. While on a mobile safari elements of disturbance are minimal; there are no cell-phones, swimming pools or newspapers, and disturbance of the natural environment is also kept to a minimum as we work with environmentally friendly and sustainable operating procedures.
