The new compact COOLPIX L610 unveiled

Nikon COOLPIX L610

Nikon has today released details of its latest camera, the COOLPIX L610.

The L610 is a compact camera with a 16 megapixel backlit CMOS image sensor, Full HD movie recording, Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction and Easy Auto mode with an intelligent AF control system. It also comes with a NIKKOR 14x optical zoom lens.

The L610 also has an Easy Panorama mode, which boasts 360° and 180° photos. Users can pan vertically or horizontally across a scene, as the camera’s CMOS sensor takes a rapid burst of frames which are merged to instantly create the panoramic view. There are 19 scene modes to choose from, including a Scene Auto Selector.

It also comes with HD (1080p) movie recording with stereo sound. The 14x optical zoom also works with the movie recording mode. A Quick Retouch Menu lets users enhance photos that have been taken without the need for a computer, offering a range of filter effects such as Selective Colour, which converts images to monochrome and adds colour to an area of choice, or Cross Screen, which adds a starry effect to bright objects.

James Loader, Product Manager for Consumer Products at Nikon UK, comments, “The COOLPIX L610 is as easy to use as it is to handle, with intuitive functions and a compact design that features an ergonomic grip to help you capture special moments with ease.
“Beginners to photography will benefit from the Easy Auto Mode, Scene Auto Selector and a smart autofocus system, leaving you to concentrate solely on composing your shot with your friends or family.”

The COOLPIX L610 comes in three colours: red, black and silver at RRP: £199.99 / €249.00

It will go on sale Thursday 23rd August 2012.
