New Olympus camera boosts zoom to 40x plus

The new flagship Olympus SP-820UZ is said to be able to magnify subjects up to 40x.

The super wide-angle lens on the SP-820UZ offers wide-angle flexibility with broad landscapes, interiors or crowds. It also has Full HD and high-speed, adjustable frame rate movie recording combined with Olympus iHS technologies that include a high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and TruePic V image processor.

The SP-820UZ also offers a Super-resolution Zoom for an 80x reach with this mode turned on and delivers HDR Backlight Adjustment, Handheld Starlight Mode and Dual Image Stabilisation.

It has a 14 Megapixel CMOS sensor,1080p Full HD Movie with sound, Dual Image Stabilisation for reducing blur with fast-moving shots, Multi-motion Movie IS for capturing HD movies with reduced blur while walking and Super-resolution Zoom for digitally extending the range of the optical zoom.

The SP-820UZ has an ergonomic comfort grip and is available in black from late October for £279.99
