How-to photography book for mothers
Media technology publisher Focal Press has announced its latest photography book, Elevate the Everyday: A Photographic Guide to Picturing Motherhood, a technical guide that aims to encourage mothers to capture their everyday experiences of motherhood.
Author of the book, Tracey Clark, is a photographer, mother, educator and the founder of Shutter Sisters, an online blog for women. She has converted her first-hand experience into a guidance book aimed to inspire mothers to take a look at their everyday lives as a parent, and to document it creatively. She encourages mothers to see that casual memories can often be more meaningful than the often-photographed momentous occasions in families' lives.
"It's hard to think about it, but the day will come when our children outgrow our homes and begin lives beyond the ones we have provided," said Clark. "Only our memories and family photos will remain, and the greatest gift we can give ourselves and our children is to document their childhood through both our words and our lenses."
