First-ever equestrian photographer awarded Fellowship distinction

A renowned photographer has become the first-ever equestrian photographer to achieve a Fellowship distinction.

Emily Hancock, who is one of the UK’s premier equestrian photographers, has been recognised for her outstanding fine art photography by the British Institute of Professional Photographers.

For more than 13 years Emily has photographed horse lovers across the UK and has worked with many stars of the equestrian world, including Olympic British dressage rider and winner of two gold medals, Charlotte Dujardin and her winning horse, Valegro.

For the past year, New Forest-based Emily has been working solidly towards achieving the institute’s highest distinction which recognises exceptional photography ability and creativity.

Emily said, “I’m absolutely ecstatic, it’s been a busy year but well worth it. To get the images I wanted to submit I travelled to southern France to photograph the famous indigenous Camargue horses which was a fantastic experience.”

In order to gain a Fellowship, Emily had to produce a profile piece and present 20 of her best images on disk and in print to a panel of distinguished photography professionals.
