Paws and Claws above the rest
Registered charity Paws and Claws has announced the winners of its recent photography competition, held in conjunction with South Downs Heritage Centre in Hassocks.
Participants were encouraged to send in photos of their pet cats in order to raise awareness for the charity’s work; Paws and Claws are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing lost or abandoned cats.
5-year-old Drew Gasson came runner-up with his photo of his cat Alfie, but the overall winner was Michaela Graham-Hyde for her photo of her cat named Polo. Michaela won three months' supply of cat food and a year's subscription to Paws and Claws.
"We were very pleased by the response to this unusual competition", said Mark Hillyard, the general manager at South Downs, "and to be able to raise awareness for Paws and Claws and all the marvelous work they do in mid Sussex and beyond, saving cats which would otherwise perish. They are to be commended for their efforts in relieving pain and suffering and housing unwanted moggies."
Paws and Claws were also pleased with the competition; Chairman and judge, Lyn Bassett, said, “I was very pleased by the high standard of the entries and choosing a winner proved extremely difficult.”
