PM writer comes second in photography award

Jessica Bracey with her upcoming prize

Here at PM we love celebrating award winners, but it’s extra special when there’s one among our own ranks. PM’s own features writer, Jessica Bracey, can now put ‘award winning photographer’ on her CV after coming second and winning a camera in a photography contest in Budapest.

The contest was arranged by Panasonic as part of the launch of their new range of cameras, and more than a hundred photography journalists from around the world participated. Jessica won second prize with her pictures of the city, and will receive a Panasonic DMC-TZ30 Lumix camera for her competition entry.

“It feels amazing,” a smiling Jessica said, “It’s really nice to have my work acknowledged.” Jessica added: “We went out in groups to photograph different things in the city, including a fashion show, an underground restaurant and a tram ride, and I really didn’t think I was going to win because there were so many artistic photographers among the participants.”

Jessica has been a keen photographer since she started taking pictures of her Barbie house as a child. She completed an A-level photography course, and has been writing about photography for PM and our sister title, Professional Photographer, since December 2011.

See all of Jessica's images in her street photography feature in September's issue of PM, on sale from 8 August.

  1. "Jessica won second price with her pictures... I really didn't thing I was going to win..." Did the sub-editor come last?
