Hole in one for Nikon as The Open Championship patronage is renewed
Nikon's long running patronage of The Open Championship has been renewed until 2017 after signing a deal extending their support in the event.
Having been patrons of The Open Champoinship since 1993 the new agreement with the R&A, organisers of the oldest major golf tournament, has been annouced on the eve of the 141st championship, this year held at the Royal Lytham and St Anne’s course in Lancashire from 19-22 July.
Takami Tsuchida, President of Nikon Europe B.V said: “The Open Championship is one of Nikon’s most significant global sponsorships, and we are delighted to be able to extend our association for another five years.
“We have established a strong brand presence over the years and are delighted that our core values continue to resonate through our support of The Open Championship which is the most prestigious golf tournament in the world.”
Michael Tate, The R&A’s Executive Director of Business Affairs added: “We are delighted to have renewed our partnership with Nikon for the next five years. We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship for more than 30 years and their devotion to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with the values of The Open.”
To mark the company’s 30 year association with the event, a number of local activities have been planned to further enhance brand awareness and engage with spectators, including practice sessions with PGA coaches who will help to evaluate and improve putting techniques. A Nikon Showroom, located in the heart of the tented village, will display the latest imaging and sport optics products which will be available to purchase. Binoculars will also be available to loan during the Championship.
