Olympus adds to its TOUGH family and the Traveller series

SZ-31MR

Designed with the adventurous photographer in mind, four new compact digital cameras have been added to Olympus’ 2012 range.

Following on from the new cameras announced in January, Olympus are adding four more compacts to their collection, including the TG-620, TG-820, SH-25MR and SZ-31MR which feature Olympus’ new intelligence, high sensitivity and high speed technologies (iHS).

Their latest TOUGH cameras, the TG-620 and TG-820, is aimed at those who like to capture every moment of their adventures, whether they're on dry land or in the water.

Claiming to combine Olympus’ trademark indestructibility with superb picture quality, the 12MP, 5x wide optical zoom cameras are waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof making it possible to take images in all kinds of conditions. The iHS technology and TruePic VI image processor improves low-light performance and transforms results with fast-moving subjects and other difficult shots. To be released mid-February the TG-820 costs £270 and the TG-620 is £230.

Added to the Traveller series is the 16MP SH-25MR and SZ-31MR, which both come complete with Olympus' revolutionary multi-recording technology and superb zoom lenses. They are the ideal choice for capturing stunning landscapes wherever your travels take you.

Priced at £230 the ultra-slim SH-25MR, due to be on sale in April, features a 12.5x wide zoom lens, 1080p Full HD movie recording and GPS function for any travel enthusiast. Even the most demanding of travellers will be impressed by this compact’s lack of blur and low-light performance.

Finally, the most impressive of the new releases is the SZ-31MR, which boosts features that are more impressive than its three record-breaking predecessor the SZ-30MR. The lightest and smallest body of any compact with 24x optical zoom, the £300 SZ-31MR also captures movies and stills simultaneously. Thanks to its new touch sensitivity the Multi Framing and Live Guide functions are easier to use. To be released late March.

Whilst the TOUGH & Traveller-series cameras are worlds apart in the subject matter they seek, one thing they do have in common is the iHS technology that makes it possible to capture excellent images in the most challenging conditions, even in low light or backlight.
