First iPhoneography course's exhibition

Apped to the Max iPhoneography exhibition

The UK’s first ever iPhoneography course will be exhibiting the work of its students at Kensington and Chelsea College for the first time.

The five-week course, ‘iPhoneography: An Introduction to Photography with the iPhone,’ taught students a range of skills and techniques to capture and create beautiful and edgy images using just their iPhone camera and a selection of apps. Students were also introduced to the vibrant mobile photography communities where they could share their work with like-minded enthusiasts.

A hundred of the best images from the course are now set to make their debut in the forthcoming exhibition Apped to the Max, running from 5-11 November 2012 at the college’s Chelsea Centre Gallery in Hortensia Road. The gallery is open to the public from 9am-7pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-4pm on Friday.

Exhibition guests will also have the opportunity to purchase some of the unique images, and meet the talented iPhoneographers during a private view being held on Tuesday 6 November, from 6pm.

A selection of photographs from the free exhibition, which is being supported by The Print Space, is also available to view online by clicking here.

Richard Gray, course tutor and exhibition curator, said, “iPhoneography has moved on from being simple point-and-shoot photography to both a sophisticated art form and an engaging hobby for millions. The iPhone camera has unleashed amazing creativity in the students and we are very proud to present their work in a traditional photography format.

“Many people are unaware of the creative potential of iPhoneography and we hope this exhibition goes some way to changing that perception. We would like to thank our exclusive sponsors, The Print Space, for their generous support for the exhibition.”

Since the iPhoneography course was launched interest in it has to have been overwhelming. So far more than 40 students have successfully completed the course and tutor Richard Gray has been working with leading businesses to deliver iPhoneography masterclasses and workshops.

iPhoneography student Shirley Hunter said, “I always had an interest in photography but I didn’t realise how much more room I had to grow. I look at my pictures now and I’m amazed at what I’ve achieved in five weeks.

“There is so much more to this course than it being fun. It really is a great introduction into photography that teaches just as much about editing as it does about photography. I’d love to take my new found skills further with a more advanced course.”
