Asda encourage us to photo-fy our possessions

Asda

Imagine the scene; you call round your neighbour’s house to borrow a cup of sugar and as you look behind her into the living room you see that every inch of furniture has been customised with their photography. Pillows bear the faces of the seventeen cats she owns and the curtains are printed with snapshots of a Brighton holiday. This could be the future of households thanks to Asda's new photo product website

With the emergence of Wi-Fi sharing cameras and the frequency in which people share photos with one another via social networking sites, Asda decided to get a slice of the action.

The supermarket has re-launched its photo website to allow users to download an image from any sharing network or device, such as Facebook, Dropbox, Instagram etc, so that customers can use them to personalise products such as t-shirts and mugs more easily.

Customers do not need to download any new software to use the facility; they can import any of their images on their smartphone or tablet. They can also choose to pick up their orders from any Asda store which has a photo centre, via the Click and Collect system.

Nemone Jacques, Asda Photo online expert, said: “With a camera phone now in most people’s pockets, photos are stored in a variety of different sources rather than on a central hard drive.

“We’re delighted to make it so easy to go from a photo and a memory to a range of new and beautiful personalised products in a few simple steps on a smartphone or tablet.

“Wherever a customer’s photos are, it’s now more straightforward than ever to print them onto canvas or fantastic gifts.”

So if you’ve always fancied a bedspread with your hamster’s chubby little face on then why not log onto the Asda site and customise and accessorise your possessions?
