LomoWall to be unveiled at Museum of London

Museum of London

The Museum of London is to host a photography exhibition in collaboration with Lomography.

Opening in July 2012, the LomoWall exhibition from Lomography will be the culmination of a series of analogue photography workshops looking at the themes of ‘inspiring’ and ‘achieving’.

The workshops, which take place from January 2012, are open to amateur, analogue photographers of all abilities and will encourage participants to use inspirational Londoners and their view of London in its Olympic year as the subjects.

A selection of photos from the workshops, along with other submissions, will become part of a giant LomoWall photography exhibition created from a mosaic of thousands of analogue photographs taken to Lomography specifications, and will span the Museum of London’s foyer and rotunda.

Close-up visitors will be able to view each photo individually, but  viewed from afar the LomoWall will resemble abstract artwork.

David Spence, Director of Programmes at the Museum of London, said:

“The LomoWall is likely to be the largest collection of London 2012 analogue photographs and will be a very exciting way to remember the lead up to the games. Our partnership with Lomography aims to encourage people to participate in the creation of a visual record of London in its Olympic year and think again about photography; perhaps even trying out analogue photography for the first time.”

Linda Scott, Marketing Manager at Lomography UK, said:

“Lomography is absolutely delighted to be partnering with the Museum of London for this massive, six-month, LomoWall exhibition. We couldn’t have hoped for a more positive, accessible, London institution of such great heritage to play host to this wonderful, analogue photography exhibition.”

Budding photographers who cannot attend a workshop should submit their best analogue photographs of Londoners in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to lomowalluk@lomography.com for possible inclusion in the exhibition. The LomoWall designers will pick the best images to be exhibited.

The April Lomography workshops will run from on Saturday 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 1.30pm-3pm at Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands. For more information on the workshops visit the Museum website.

The Lomography LomoWall is free and open until January 2013. For more information please visit www.museumoflondon.org.uk.
