Canon reveals PowerShot G1 X with EOS technology
Canon has revealed a new benchmark in its long line of PowerShot cameras, with the G1 X.
Unveiled today, the Canon PowerShot G1 X boasts a large 14.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, which Canon says it has designed for professional and serious photographers.
Also unique to the new PowerShot is the latest DIGIC 5 processor, typically found only in Canon’s line of EOS DSLRs.
Users will also benefit from full manual control and raw capture, as well as the capability of recording full HD videos. A dedicated movie record button lets you capture 1080p movies at 24fps with optical zoom and stereo sound, with playback on an HDTV via the HDMI port.
The Canon G1 X also offers a 4x zoom lens (28-112mm equivalent) with Intelligent IS, along with a high ISO of 12,800 and a 3in vari-angle LCD screen
Combining a large 14.3 MP Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC 5 processor and exceptional 4x zoom lens the PowerShot G1 X gives you SLR-levels of control and image quality in a compact camera body.
The G1 X also allows users to capture images at 4.5fps in a 6-frame full resolution burst using its High-speed Burst HQ mode.
The Canon G1 X is expected to be priced around £699 and in stores from February.
