Outstanding local college tutor honoured as a digital innovator
Joe Partridge, part time photography tutor with Croydon Adult Learning and Training (CALAT), based at CALAT South Norwood Centre, has been named the winner of the prestigious “Furthering My Learning” award at the second annual Next Generation Learning Awards.
These awards from Becta, the government agency for technology in learning, aim to reward technological excellence in the Further Education and Skills sector. They celebrate the very best practice across the country and are one of the most important and respected awards in the sector’s calendar.
Now in their second year, the awards identify and reward organisations and individuals throughout the UK that use technology in outstanding or innovative ways for the benefit of learners, communities and local employers. Joe beat off fierce competition from across the UK to win the “Further My Learning” award in recognition for his inspiring use of technology to excite and encourage learning in this important sector.
As winner of the “Further My Learning” award, Joe Partridge is a fantastic example of how technology can support and improve learning and training. Technology can play a vital role in improving the learning that people do - whether formal or informal, work-related or for leisure and Joe Partridge is a leader in his field in using technology in a productive and positive way.
Stephen Crowne, Chief Executive of Becta, said “The Next Generation Learning Awards highlight the impressive use of technology in the FE and Skills sector. The accolades are an important opportunity to recognise and reward organisations that are using ICT in creative and innovative ways to benefit and inspire learners.

On winning the award, Joe Partridge, of Croydon Adult Learning and Training, said “I am thrilled to receive this award and would like to acknowledge all the work and time people have invested in making Croydon Adult Learning and Training a centre of excellence for Further and Adult Education photographic teaching. We are incredibly proud of our work and to have it recognised in a national awards scheme is a fantastic boost to all involved. ”
