Fuji Extreme winners announced

FujiEXR

After a late flurry of entries to our Fuji Extreme competition, the four winners have been picked. Photography Monthly readers Noel Taylor, Jean Macdonald, Roger Cope and Chris King will now join members of the PM editorial team for a weekend shoot in London on July 4 and 5. They’ll each be using their prize – a Fuji FinePix F200EXR – to help us produce an in-depth reader test on the camera that will appear in the September 2009 issue of PM.

The winning images are showcased here, along with comments from the judges as to why they won:

Noel Taylor
“This matches the brief perfectly and is both an eye-catching and arresting image. Noel’s certainly a braver man than me, so he thoroughly deserves to be part of the test team in London.” Roger Payne, editor
Camera used: Fujifilm FinePix S100FS

Jean Macdonald
“A shot that’s already won praise on the PM website, this is a well-executed digital technique with the selective colour really making the subject stand out.” Lisa Clatworthy, managing editor
Camera used: Canon EOS 30D, EF 24-105mm lens

Roger Cope
“Sometimes pictures don’t have to display real technical prowess, they simply have to be will observed. Roger’s shot illustrates that perfectly. Composition is spot on and the shot made all the judges smile. Job done!” Liz Walker, associate editor
Camera used: Nikon D80, 1-200mm VR lens

Chris King
“It’s the composition that makes this shot a winner in my book. It would be tempting to simply fill the frame, but leave the expanse of blue sky adds extra intrigue. I wonder what happened next?” Kevin Reed, art editor.
Camera used: Nikon D700, Sigma 24-70mm lens
