Photo Tours with Steve Davey

Professional photographer and author, Steve Davey, has launched a range of travel photography tours.

The first, Impressions of Morocco, starts 21 September 2009 and runs for 13 days. Attendees of the course will visit the cities of Fes, Casablanca and Marrakech, trek in the High Atlas Mountains around the remote village of Armed. They can also explore ruins, gorges, kasbahs and holy sites as well as spending a night in the Sahara Desert. The price for the tour is £1195 plus a local payment of 300 Euros. All land arrangements are provided by Intrepid Travel.

Impressions of India visits the Taj Mahal and the holy city of Varanasi before spending three days at the Sonepur Mela festival in Bihar. The largest livestock fair in Asia, it is noted for the Haathi Bazaar, a second-hand elephant market. Attendees can also visit the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Bodh Gaya with it's Tibetan influence. There is also the city of Kolkata to explore. The tour runs for 16 days from 26 October, prices start at £1395 plus an 18,000 rupee local payment.

As well as covering technical subjects such as exposure, composition and shooting RAW, Davey will cover tips for how best to approach people to shoot their portrait, the best way to travel with a camera and how to tackle different situations and picture opportunities encountered on the road.

According to Nikon, which has endorsed the tours, Steve, with his years of experience and expertise, is able to inspire keen travellers and photographers to experiment and persevere with photography.

"So while you're soaking up the foreign climates and local cultures, Steve will also encourage you to think how best to photograph them," said the company.

Steve Davey is a professional writer and photographer, and is the author of Unforgettable Places to See Before You Die, and Unforgettable Islands to Escape to Before You Die, both published by BBC Books and translated into some 30 language editions. Steve's latest book is Footprint Travel Photography, sponsored by Nikon and Intrepid Travel, it is published by Footprint Handbooks, cover price £19.99. Anyone coming on the tour will receive a free signed copy of the book as the course manual.
