Canon adds to printer line-up

Pro9500

Canon has added to its suite of inkjet printers for aspiring professional photographers with the release of the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II.

This is a 10-colour pigment printer, capable of producing prints up to A3+ size or 14” wide. It includes matte black and photo black, enabling the user to print on both gloss and matte paper without needing to swap ink tanks.

The printer supports ICC profiles for many specialist media including Baryta types, canvas, and numerous fine art stock such as Canson, Hahnemühle, Innova, Moab, Somerset, Crane, PCM and Pictorico. Custom ICC profiles can also be created.

The printer boasts 16 bits per channel, which means it is capable of printing 276 trillion possible colours and smooth tonal gradations in both colour and monochrome prints.

A new feature is ambient light correction based on Canon Kyuanos technology. Users can select the type of lighting under which a print will be displayed; the colours in the final print are then automatically adjusted accordingly.

The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is available from June priced £729.

Features:

  • A3+ and 14” wide
  • 10 Single Inks
  • Lucia Pigment Inks for image longevity
  • Glossy media printing
  • Striking neutral monochrome prints
  • Archival prints on Fine Art media
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements & Canon Easy PhotoPrint Pro Plug-In software supplied
  • 16bits per channel photo printing
  • Ambient Light Correction feature
  • Wide range of third party media supported
  • Flat media path
  • DVD/CD Direct Printing

Also available is the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II, which Canon claims can print in monochrome almost three times faster than it predecessor. The machine can produce an A3+ bordered print in 9 mins 30sec on PR-201 against 27 min 14 sec with the PIXMA Pro9000 on PR-101.

It also incorporates an 8-colour ChromaLife100 single-inks system and 16 bits per channel print capability, with 276 trillion different colours available, which offer smooth tonal gradations.

The PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II provides photographers with an extensive choice of print media options. Canon’s own range of media includes Gloss, Semi-gloss and Matte Photo Papers, plus Fine Art media. Users can also load the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II with a variety of specialist, third-party media – such as Baryta types, canvas, and numerous other Fine Art media from leading manufacturers including Canson, Hahnemühle, Innova, PCM Takeo and Pictorico. A flat paper path ensures that media up to 1.2mm thick remain pristine and crease-free, says Canon.

New for the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II is an Ambient Light Correction feature using Canon Kyuanos technology. Users can select the type of lighting under which a print will be displayed; the colours in the final print are then automatically adjusted.
