Olympus E-620 (£600 body only)
The latest Four Thirds offering from Olympus features a seven-point twin autofocus system and packs 12.3 megapixels. With a 176° viewing angle, the LCD allows for shots to be taken from almost any perspective. This camera has a solid feel to it and also comes packed with a selection of art filters that enable users to apply effects in-camera. Available from the end of April. Corel Painter 11 (£263)
For those wishing to develop their more artistic side, Corel’s latest painting and illustration software may be the way to go. With more than 40 additional features since the last version, users can customize brushes to their needs and they perform up to 30 per cent faster than before. New colour management improves colour recognition when importing files from other applications and individual colour profiles per document. Fujifilm F200EXR
Featuring 12 megapixels and a completely redesigned EXR processor, the FinePix F200EXR carries on from where the FinePix F100fd left off. It carries a Fujinon 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens and face detection with auto red-eye removal. Also on offer in this 175g body are five Film Simulation Modes, a three-inch high-resolution wide view LCD, HD photo output, dual image stabilisation and sensitivity up to ISO 12,800 at three megapixels. Ricoh CX1 (£300)
This compact features a mode that shoots two images with different exposures and then records a single file, combining the properly exposed portions of each image. It is also capable of shooting 120 frames a second. A multi-pattern auto white-balance will set the WB on separate areas of the picture, and the multi-target AF will shoot consecutive images at seven focal distances defined in-camera. At 17mm, the TS-E 17mm f/4L has the widest view angle of any tilt-and-shift lens currently available. Users can rotate the direction of the tilt and shift independently of each other. Animoto is a US-based web application that produces video slide shows of user-selected images and music. The artificial intelligence behind the technology has been developed to behave both as an editor and a director, producing slide shows that can have the impact of a movie trailer with the energy of a music video.
